Regenerative by Design
Healthier campus landscapes with fewer inputs, proven in real operations.
We help colleges, universities, and schools build healthy soil, the foundation everything else grows from. When soil biology thrives, the benefits follow: resilient turf and plantings, less irrigation, fewer inputs, and results you can measure and report. To get there, we address synthetic inputs and the sources of disturbance, like compaction, that hold soil back.

AASHE 2026 speaker: Soil biology and Organic land management
We don't just replace products. For long-term success, we support the whole ecosystem from the soil up.
We're independent advisors, not a contractor or product supplier, so our recommendations aren't tied to anything we sell. The work starts with your soil, your site, and your team.
Healthy soil first. Sound IPM still matters.
Most campuses already have an Integrated Pest Management policy, and good IPM remains part of what we do. The difference is the starting point. A reactive approach waits for problems and treats them. A proactive approach designs with nature. We build soil biology so plants are healthier, weeds and pathogens find fewer openings, and less intervention is needed over time.
Proven on working campuses
James measured this at UC Berkeley, where a grant-funded organic turf research project showed a 22% reduction in irrigation over two years, with better stress resilience and appearance. He then helped Hampshire College manage all 815 acres of its campus organically and earn Platinum certification. He has managed campuses this way for 15 years.
Our framework
Five steps, delivered on every campus we work with:
1. Observe
We assess where your landscape is today: soil biology, site conditions, and current practices.
2. Design
We build a roadmap to where you want to be, around the outcomes you name.
3. Educate
We train your staff and stakeholders in the how and the why.
4. Assist
We support your team through the transition, retesting soil and measuring results.
5. Lead
We help you share what you’ve achieved through case studies, reporting, and your campus story.
Who we work with
Colleges, universities, K–12 schools, and boarding schools, as well as parks, cemeteries, places of worship, private estates, and athletic-field managers who want the best results. We travel on-site for every engagement, because training your local team and seeing conditions on the ground firsthand are essential to getting it right. Based in Western Massachusetts, working in person across the country and in Canada, with remote consultations and ongoing support between visits.
Meet James
“I spent years on the conventional side, including setting up the 2009 U.S. Women’s Open with plenty of pesticides. Now I help campuses get better results by working with the soil instead.”
A campus worth remembering
Think of a favorite moment outside on campus: friends on the lawn, a quiet spot under the trees, a sunset you still remember. Pesticide warning signs aren't part of those memories. They don't have to be part of your campus either.
Let’s talk about your campus.
